In 1976, a German court case would ignite a new fire between faith and science. With a diagnosis of Epileptic Psychosis, Anneliese believed herself to be possessed by multiple demons, leading to a course of sixty-seven Exorcism Rite’s to be performed over the next eleven months.
Whilst some fight to have what seems to be archaic ideas of belief dismissed, others argue that Anneliese’s condition could not be explained by science alone. Continuing the tension between spiritual belief and scientific study across the world to this day.
Documentary meets Mystery Drama in this true and tragic tale of Anneliese Michel.
Behind the Scenes
'Continuing the notion of a tongue-in-cheek slasher film and after several requests to continue the story. I created my first-ever sequel with no real goal other than to put it out on Halloween for a bit of fun. A film made for an audience base that we had accumulated thanks to the success of 'Charlie'. Unfortunately, the script proved too ambitious for such a small budget, and I had to rewrite the ending at 4 am, on set, racing the sun.
The film went on to be shown worldwide at several horror festivals.'
